How to Prepare for Your Christmas Mini Session

Christmas photos at a tree farm are full of holiday magic! With a little preparation, your session can be easy, relaxed, and fun.

1. Choose Coordinating Outfits

You don't have to match—just coordinate. Choose 2–4 colors that look good together, such as:

• Cream, beige, and brown
• Green and burgundy
• Navy and cream
• Red and green
• Neutral tones

Sweaters, scarves, coats, and other cozy textures look great in photos. Avoid large logos, neon colors, and very busy patterns.

Tip: Choose Mom's outfit first, then build the rest of the family's outfits around it.

2. Dress for the Weather

• Christmas tree farms can be cold! Dress in layers and bring coats, sweaters, and scarves. Choose comfortable shoes since we may be walking on grass, dirt, or uneven ground.

3. Keeping the Kids Happy

• Feed the kids before your session and bring water and a small, non-messy snack.
• Don't worry if your child isn't smiling right away. Give them time to warm up. We'll walk, play, explore, and have fun. Some of the best photos happen when kids are simply being themselves!

4. Arrive Early

• Mini sessions go by quickly, so please arrive 10–15 minutes early. This gives you time to park, use the restroom, fix hair, and get everyone ready without rushing.

5. Don't Worry About Posing

• You don't need to know how to pose! I'll guide you with simple prompts to create natural, fun moments.
• We may walk, cuddle, hold hands, play, or share a Christmas hug. Just focus on enjoying your family.

6. Let the Kids Have Fun

• Try not to worry about getting everyone to smile or look at the camera. Talk, play, laugh, and cuddle with your kids. I'll capture the sweet moments as they happen.

7. Bring One Special Christmas Item

• If you'd like, bring one small item that is meaningful to your family, such as a favorite Christmas book, ornament, blanket, or family keepsake. Just check with your photographer or the farm first.

8. Embrace the Imperfections

• Someone may blink. A toddler may not smile. Hair may blow in the wind. That's okay!
• Your photos don't have to be perfect. They are about capturing your family and this special season of life.

9. Pets

• You may bring your furry family members but the tree farm and I request that they are leased and most importantly, FRIENDLY!

10. Have Fun!

• Come ready to laugh, cuddle, play, and enjoy time together. I'll guide you through the session and capture the moments you'll want to remember for years to come.
