How to Prepare for Your Newborn Session
Newborn sessions are meant to be slow, relaxed, and baby-led. A little preparation can help everyone feel comfortable and make the session go smoothly.
1. Keep Baby Awake
- Try to keep baby awake for 1–2 hours before your session if possible. This can help them be extra sleepy when we begin.
2. Feed Baby Before the Session
- Feed baby right before the session or when you arrive. A full, happy baby is usually a sleepy baby!
3. Dress Baby Comfortably
- Dress baby in a loose sleeper or onesie before the session. This helps avoid marks on their skin and makes changing easier.
4. Bring a Few Essentials
A few helpful things to pack:
- Extra diapers
- Wipes
- Pacifier, even if baby doesn't normally use one
- Bottle, if applicable
- Any other items baby may need
5. Keep Your Home Warm
- Newborns love to be cozy! Keep your home nice and warm so baby stays comfortable during the session.
6. Don't Worry About the Little Things
- Baby acne, flaky skin, spit-up, and little accidents are all completely normal. Don't stress—we expect them!
7. Keep Outfits Simple
- For parents and siblings, neutral and simple clothing works best. Soft colors and minimal patterns help keep the focus on your family and your connection.
8. Trust the Process
- Newborn sessions are slow and baby-led. We will take plenty of time for feeding, changing, cuddling, and soothing whenever baby needs it.
9. Relax and Enjoy
- Your baby doesn't need to be perfectly sleepy or perfectly posed. Just relax, enjoy this special time, and let me take care of the rest.
- The calmer you are, the more relaxed baby will be. We’ll take our time and capture those sweet little moments you'll want to remember forever.
I cant wait to work with you and your family during this presious moment in your life!
